The doctors and staff at Bowburn Medical Centre in Bowburn, Durham are proud to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare.We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes and offer a wide variety of other medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups. We also run SEASONAL FLU CLINICS every year-please see below for details.

Named Accountable GP for all Patients

 

Practices now need to allocate all patients a named accountable GP who will have overall responsibility for the care and support that our surgery provides to you.

 

As of 1st March 2016 all patients at the practice have been allocated a named accountable GP.

 

For all patients at Bowburn Medical Centre, Dr. Armstrong will be your named accountable GP.

 

This is for administrative purposes only and all patients still have free choice to request an appointment with any GP or Practitioner in the practice.

FLU CLINICS AT BOWBURN SURGERY

Flu vaccinations are now available for those patients who are eligible for them. The practice is sending out sms messages to all eligible patients, but please contact the surgery should you wish to check eligibility and book an appointment.

PLT (Practice Learning Time)

Practice Learning Time occurs 1 afternoon per month on the 3rd Thursday, these days are used by all Surgeries as Staff Training Days and our surgery is CLOSED during this time, from 12.00pm on the Thursday until 8.30am the following morning. The dates of these PLT days are listed below:

If you need URGENT Medical attention during this time please ring 999. If the problem is not medically URGENT but cannot wait until we re-open please ring 111 or the Out of Hours Service (after 6.00pm) or wait until the surgery re-opens. You could also ask for advice from your local pharmacist

Disabled Access

The surgery is accessible to patients who use a Wheelchair or Mobility Scooter, and for parents with pushchairs. If you require any help please ask the receptionists.

PATIENT INVOLVEMENT

The practice has a strategy that encourages patient involvement to ensure that we continually listen to your feedback and where possible get your involvement in helping us shape our services. Some of the ways we do this is by surveying our patients on a regualr basis and communicating directly with patients who have given us their e-mail contact who are now part of our virtual patient reference group.
